Capacity Building of Teachers & Students on Menstrual Hygiene Management

SPHERE partnered with Norwegian Church Aid to develop a menstrual health training manual and curriculum for teachers and students, promoting menstrual hygiene, dispelling misconceptions, and encouraging sustainable practices.

Capacity Building of Teachers & Students on Menstrual Hygiene Management

Menstrual health awareness is generally low in Pakistan, leading to numerous sexual and reproductive health issues. To address this, SPHERE Consulting along with Norwegian Church Aid took the initiative to create a manual and training program for school teachers and students. Through focus group discussions with teachers and mothers of adolescent girls, we identified the need to tackle misconceptions about menstruation, promote hygiene practices, and encourage the use of eco-friendly menstrual hygiene products. We developed a comprehensive training manual based on assessed needs. This manual formed the basis of a structured training curriculum, meticulously designed to fill the gaps in knowledge and practices related to sexual and reproductive health, menstruation, and hygiene. Our training sessions were thorough, covering various aspects of sexual and reproductive health education. Participants weren't just trained; they were also equipped to pass on their knowledge through subsequent sessions on menstrual hygiene management. This cascading approach aimed to amplify the impact of our initiative, reaching more individuals and communities.
