Bottleneck Analysis to Identify Barriers in the Family Planning Situation in Pakistan
SPHERE conducted a nationwide Bottleneck Analysis with WHO and MoNHSR&C to identify barriers to scaling up family planning interventions and develop recommendations to strengthen Pakistan’s FP2030 commitments.
SPHERE Consulting conducted a nationwide Bottleneck Analysis (BNA) in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination (MoNHSR&C) to identify barriers affecting the scale-up and sustainability of Postpartum Family Planning (PPFP), Post-Abortion Family Planning (PAFP), Task Sharing/Shifting, and Social and Behavior Change Communication (SBCC) interventions. Covering all provinces and regions of Pakistan, including ICT, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu & Kashmir, the study employed a multi-method approach involving stakeholder consultations and district-level data collection to identify health system, policy, and service delivery bottlenecks. The findings provided evidence-based recommendations to support the achievement of Pakistan's FP2030 commitments and strengthen family planning policies and programs nationwide.
